Troye Sivan’s She’s the Best: the sound of the party after everyone leaves

October 30, 2026

She’s the Best is Troye Sivan’s strangest and most ambitious album, and it captures the quiet hour after a big night out. Released on October 9, 2026, it’s his fourth album. Variety called it his best and his weirdest record. PopMatters gave it 8 out of 10. Not every track lands, but as a mood, it’s one of the most specific pop records of the year.

What does She’s the Best sound like?

If Something to Give Each Other (2023) was the party, She’s the Best is what comes after. PopMatters described Sivan “languishing in the party’s afterglow.” The album is more subdued and moves between styles instead of chasing a single radio hit. Reviewers recommend the title track and “Lost Time” as starting points.

Why does it feel like the end of a night?

There’s a specific feeling at 4am: the music is still on but quieter, a few people are left, and the conversation gets honest. Everything is a bit softer and a bit sadder. That’s the space this album lives in. It’s about connection, but the kind you look for when the noise has stopped.

That’s the Pylcrow take: She’s the Best isn’t a party album. It’s an album about why we go to parties at all.

Memory Unlocked: what will She’s the Best remind you of?

Play it when: you’re in a car on the way home from a night out, window down.
It unlocks: the friend you only talk to properly at the end of the night.
Pair it with: Fontaines D.C.’s Dopamine Chamber for the walk home.

What are the weak spots?

Not every critic loved the back half. OurCulture singled out “Troye Meets World” as forgettable, and Ratings Game Music gave it a B, calling it solid but not his best. The ambition that makes it interesting also makes it uneven.
