Editorial policy

Pylcrow is an independent entertainment blog about movies, music, games and mysteries, edited by Khalid Zahran. This page explains how we choose, write, check and label what we publish.
What we publish
- Reviews and recommendations: our opinion of a film, album, song or game, and who we think it suits.
- Explainers: background on a story, a trend or an unsolved case, based on published sources.
- Opinion: arguments and personal takes, labelled as opinion.
- Lists: ranked or curated picks, with the reasoning shown.
Accuracy and sources
- Factual claims (dates, figures, credits, quotes) are checked against reliable sources, and we link or list those sources in the post.
- We never invent quotes, people, credentials, dates or events.
- For unsolved cases and disputed stories, we separate what is confirmed from what is theory or speculation, and we say so clearly.
- Box office, streaming and chart figures change. We give the source and the date where it matters.
Use of AI tools
We use AI tools to help with research, outlines and drafts. A person decides what we publish and is responsible for every post. AI output is treated like any other unverified source: facts are checked before publication, and errors are corrected under our corrections policy.
Independence
- Studios, labels, publishers and artists do not review or approve our posts before publication.
- Advertising does not influence what we cover or what we think of it.
- Sponsored content, affiliate links or free review copies will always be disclosed clearly in the post. See our disclaimer.
Images
We use images we have the right to use: free-licence libraries such as Unsplash, Pexels and Wikimedia Commons, or official material credited to its owner. Every image is credited in its caption.
Labels
Posts are labelled by type (review, explainer, opinion, list or sponsored) so you always know what you are reading.
