Unsolved Mysteries is back on YouTube: what’s in the new season and why we can’t look away
Unsolved Mysteries is back, this time as a free weekly video podcast on YouTube, starting October 29, 2026. New episodes drop every Thursday, with case updates on some Tuesdays. Jordan Murphy is the new host. The season covers big cases like the disappearance of Amelia Earhart, Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum heist.
Where can you watch the new Unsolved Mysteries?
On YouTube, for free. It’s produced by Unsolved Media and Audacy, and it also runs as an audio podcast. Deadline first reported the move, and JoBlo and Nerdist have the details. Classic seasons 1 to 12 of the original TV series are also on YouTube through distributor FilmRise.
What cases are in the new season?
- Amelia Earhart: the aviator who vanished over the Pacific in 1937.
- Malaysia Airlines Flight 370: the passenger jet that disappeared in 2014 with 239 people on board.
- The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum heist: the 1990 art theft in Boston that’s still unsolved. Read our full Gardner heist case file.
Why do unsolved cases grip us more than solved ones?
This is the heart of Pylcrow’s Mysteries section, and our series name says it: Case File, never “case closed.”
Psychologists call it the Zeigarnik effect: we remember unfinished tasks better than finished ones. Our brains don’t like open loops. A solved case gives you an ending, and you move on. An unsolved one stays open in your head, and you keep coming back to it.
There’s something else, too. Unsolved Mysteries always ended with a request: if you know something, call. That made the viewer part of the story. You weren’t just watching. You might be the missing piece. Moving to YouTube, where comments and theories happen in real time, brings that feeling back in a modern way.
How is Pylcrow different from conspiracy channels?
We stick to known facts and real open questions. When a theory has no evidence, we say so. A good mystery doesn’t need invented answers. The real gaps are interesting enough.
